Accommodation - The restoration has created a substantial five-bedroom house arranged over three floors sleeping up to 12 people. There are three bathrooms - two with showers and one family bathroom with a freestanding antique bath. Several rooms have original stencilled walls which have been lovingly restored. At the top of the house, is the dovecote, which has been transformed into a romantic bedroom. To the rear of the house are stunning views over the Sasso di Simone nature reserve and the Apennine Mountains.

The house also has its own outdoor 12metre x 4 metre swimming pool.

The Area - La Colombaia (the dovecote) nestles into the rolling Tuscan hillside in a tiny hamlet near Urbania. The house, which is built in the local stone, has origins stretching back several hundred years. It has been, at various times, a farmhouse, a convent school and latterly, the village priest's house. This part of the Apennine mountains, on the border between the regions of Tuscany and Le Marche, provides miles of unspoilt countryside for walking and cycling. The house is close to the beautiful nature reserve of Sasso di Simone, home to many different species of wild flowers, birds and other wildlife, including deer, wild boar and porcupines. The working farm nearby is also home to the unusual local Chianina cattle.

The area is rich in history and includes some of Italy's most famous and beautiful towns such as Urbino, Arezzo, San Leo and Ravenna. There are many sites of historical interest, good local shops, restaurants and markets, nearby.

This is the heart of truffle-hunting country and the area is rich in flora and fauna. There are many wild flowers such as orchids and primroses. Wild boar, deer and porcupine roam the area. La Colombaia can be rented by the week or for long weekends. A maid can be arranged on a weekly basis at an additional cost. The freezer can be stocked by arrangement with traditional local dishes, which guests can order and pre pay for in advance.

This map shows the approximate location of the house (red dot) in the region of Tuscany.
